‘Yes, these are my shelves’ by AN Stuart
I know what you’re thinking and you’re probably right, but I thought I’d give it a go regardless.
This is just somewhere for me to record my passions: books, primarily, but also the occasional song or film and, while I certainly don’t call myself an artist, I’ll also share with you some of my photos. Well, I say photos…
So, I’ll be posting reviews of the newly published and the new-to-me, old favourites and favourite authors. I’ll post the odd (very odd) rant and discuss the physical beauty and tactile ‘frisson’ of books. I’ll be talking about ghost stories and the psychometry of books, about Saint Etienne and the Oscar Wilde of the Welfare State, about lost classics and neglected authors, of beautiful covers and stinky pages, books that have made me cry and bookshops which have made me laugh… I would also love to have dinner in the revolving restaurant at the top of the Post Office Tower.
For what it’s worth, I’m based in Manchester, England and Jon Pertwee will always be ‘my’ Doctor. (which, if you have any knowledge of ‘Dr. Who’, will give you a rough idea of my age).
Welcome aboard – it’s going to be a lovely jaunt.
Andy
P.S. If you find wordsandpictures interesting, then why not get in touch and let me know. I don’t bite…unless asked.
